They say you never forget your first love. No matter how many more come along or how much time goes by, there will always be that one person who will be forever embedded deep inside your heart and soul. For me, that was Jaxson Callahan.
We were complete opposites. I was a senator’s daughter. My parents were always too busy keeping up appearances on the political scene to show me love, so instead they bought my affection.
He was the son of a woman who allowed men to use and abuse her as well as him, just for her next fix.
We became each other’s solace during that summer we met, creating a lifetime of memories in three short months. I provided him with a sense of hope that there was more than just the harsh reality of the life he had grown accustomed to, and he showed me a genuine love that I had been yearning for my entire life. We vowed to be together forever. I loved him and he loved me…. and nothing would keep us apart.
Nothing except the secrets that were hiding in that small seaside town.
Secrets that altered our destiny. We were never given any warning as we watched our future shake, crumble and disappear altogether, leaving us with nothing but memories of a bittersweet past.
Life can be beautiful.
Life can be kind.
And, life can be heartless…..because nothing about our situation was fair.
The cover of Easy Silence is perfect for this book. The model portraying Samantha looks to be in reflection, perhaps thinking about "the best summer" of her life and the love she had with Jaxson. I really like that she has her mermaid locket that Jaxson gave her (although it looks more like a pocket watch). The smokey, unfocused edges reinforce the perception that the character is reflecting on the past. And the use of the black and white tone gives the cover an almost timeless feel to it. I love the cover almost as much as I love this book.
Book Review:
Easy Silence completely destroyed me emotionally. I don't think that I'm going to be getting over this one for a long time. Just thinking about the story while writing this has me wanting to cry again. And boy, did I cry. There is so much emotion in this book, and I felt each one. I really believe that it's a testiment to an author's writing ability when they can make a reader feel such deep emotions in their books. Beth Rinyu has written a book that will be in my heart forever.
I adored Samantha and Jaxson. Their relationship definitely wasn't easy. Even though there's a lot of heartbreak, their love for each other is a kind that I'm honestly envious of. Their connection seems to transcend time and really everything. When you realize how deep their connection truely is, I can't even find the words to say to describe it. I so desperately wanted them to be happy together and have the life and future they dreamed of having.
I felt so much for Jaxson. His childhood was horrible and unimaginable. The pain that he's carried for so long, it broke my heart. He closed himself off from caring or loving anyone, until Samantha came along. The only time he knew true love was when he was with her. I wanted him to finally have the happiness he had with Samantha and the future he never believed he'd have or deserve. But the past has a way of creeping up on you when you least expect it.
I really liked how the story really fit with the title. Easy Silence refers to Samantha and Jaxson's ability to be completely at comfortable in the silence between them. About how they are able to say a million things without uttering a single word. I would love to have the easy silence with someone.
I just cannot say enough how much I absolutely loved this book. I'd give Easy Silence an infinite star rating if I could.
Rating:
I gave Easy Silence a 5 STAR rating. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster that I'm still recovering from. You know that you've found a truly talented author when you read a story that evokes the kind of emotion that I felt while reading Easy Silence. I doubt I'll ever forget this book and the impact it made on me. Samantha and Jaxson have become one of my favorite couples, even if their happy ending wasn't what you'd expect.

Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed Creative Writing. There was always something about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen - or in today's world a touch of the keyboard. I am the author of The Exception To The Rule, An Unplanned Lesson, An Unplanned Life Drowning In Love, A Cry for Hope, A Will To Change, Blind Side of Love, When The Chips Are Down and Easy Silence.
My life is not as interesting as my books or the characters in them, but then again whose life is? I'm a mom of twin teenage boys, a crazy Border Collie and a cat with an identity crisis! I guess you can say writing is my form of Calgon!
Thanks for taking the time to learn about my books and me! If you decide to read them (and I hope you do!) please be sure to go on and review it for me - yes, even if you don't like it!
