Aidan
Surf.
Fuck.
Get high.
Sounds like the perfect day to Aidan Callahan. As second-born son to Chicago’s most influential business owner, Aidan’s life has always been about responsibility. Tradition. Toeing the goddamn line. Just do as you’re told, Aidan. Don’t make waves.
Well, screw that. Riding waves is way more fun than making them.
Hawaii is paradise on earth. Smoking hot women. Tiny bikinis. As far as Aidan’s concerned, wild horses couldn’t drag him kicking and screaming back to the windy city. Or at least that’s what he thought.
When his brother crashes his Mercedes, killing himself on impact, Aidan finds himself next in line to the Callahan fortune and all the ties that come with it.
And this time there’s no getting out of it.
Essie
A warm bed.
A steady job.
A brother who loves her.
For Essie Floyd, life’s been one hard kick in the teeth after another. With her parents both dead, her brother is her only living relative. That is until Vaughn’s truck is written off, his life snatched away by the careless actions of a rich playboy in a flashy sports car.
Now, the only thing that will bring Essie peace is revenge. She must take what was taken from her. Only when the name Callahan has been wiped from the face of the earth forever will she be able to start living again.
Of course, the new head of the Callahan Corporation isn’t what she expected. Aidan’s sexy and sad, and just as damaged as she is. Will she be able to distance herself enough to accomplish her goal?
After all, ruining a man’s really hard when you find yourself falling for him…
Book Review:
Heart's Revenge is a highly emotional book! Essie and Aidan were enjoying their lives. Essie and her brother Vaughn were finally able to get their own apartment and things were looking up for them. Aidan was living life on the beaches of Hawaii, surfing and teaching, the only dark spot was his brother Alex constantly trying to get him to come back home to Chicago. Their lives are changed forever by a fatal car crash that kills Essie and Aidan's families; Aidan's brother and parents and Essie's beloved brother Vaughn. The accident was Alex's fault, and now Essie is out to get revenge on the only remaining Callahan left, Aidan.
Essie and Aidan change a lot after the accident. Their personalities do a kind of switch. Before the accident Essie was extremely loving and devoted, now all she cares about is getting revenge. She never opens her heart to anyone, she's done drugs and slept around a lot on her path to achieving her goal. Aidan on the other hand was wild and free before the accident surfing, sex and drugs, now he's responsible and caring, though he's still "sexually charged." It's like the accident caused Essie to lose her ability to love and care for people, including herself, while Aidan was able to open his heart and care for people other than himself.
Essie's need for revenge has completely consumed her. And her target is greatly misplaced. Aidan may be a Callahan, but he had absolutely nothing to do with the accident that killed Vaughn. It was kind of disturbing how when Aidan tells her about all the people he now feels responsible for and basically show her that he's not who she thought he was, she wasn't swayed that much to change her mind. Aidan senses that something else is going on with her sudden interest in him, but he doesn't know what it is. If it were me, and considering all the circumstances that bind them together, I'd almost immediately be thinking that she's up to no good.
They have explosive chemistry, but any kind of relationship that they have will be marred by the accident. So it's going to be interesting to see where things will go with them after that cliffhanger at the end of the book. That was a really cruel cliffhanger and I desperately want the next book to see what's going to happen next.
Rating:
I gave Heart's Revenge a 5 STAR rating! I cried when the news of the accident was delivered to Essie and Aidan, mostly Essie though, because she loved her brother fiercely. I'm really looking forward to seeing if Essie will go through with her revenge plans. I'm also looking forward to seeing what happens between her and Aidan. This debut novel was so incredible good! It caught me and didn't let go until I was finished, and even still it's claws are in me waiting for the next book. This is definitely a must read!
