Waiting on Wednesday | A Work in Progress by Connor Franta

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights an upcoming book release that I'm looking forward to. This week I'm sharing with you Connor Franta's memoir called, A Work in Progress. This book is set to be released on April 21st, 2015 by Atria/Keywords Press.

In this intimate memoir of life beyond the camera, Connor Franta shares the lessons he has learned on his journey from small-town boy to Internet sensation—so far. Here, Connor offers a look at his Midwestern upbringing as one of four children in the home and one of five in the classroom; his struggles with identity, body image, and sexuality in his teen years; and his decision to finally pursue his creative and artistic passions in his early twenties, setting up his thrilling career as a YouTube personality, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and tastemaker.

Exploring his past with insight and humor, his present with humility, and his future with hope, Connor reveals his private struggles while providing heartfelt words of wisdom for young adults. His words will resonate with anyone coming of age in the digital era, but at the core is a timeless message for people of all ages: don’t be afraid to be yourself and to go after what you truly want.

This full-color collection includes photography and childhood clippings provided by Connor and is a must-have for anyone inspired by his journey.

***

Why am I looking forward to reading A Work in Progress? I'm going to be completely honest when I say that I usually don't like reading non-fiction books. So why am I making an exception with this book, you ask? First, I kind of have an obsession with authors/actors/personalities from my state of Minnesota. And Connor is from a small town here. Second, I've been subscribed to his YouTube channel for maybe half a year now. I went back and watched all his videos and vlogs that I could. Connor is a very creative and inspiring person, and one of my favorite YouTubers. When I learned that he had written a book (YAY!), and then thought "Hey, I'm a book blogger!", I immediately had to make a WoW post.

You can preorder A Work in Progress at the following retailers:

Amazon (Paperback) | Amazon (Kindle)
B&N (Paperback) | B&N (Nook)

I'm not too fond of 'YouTubers'. Maybe it's just my age - I'm 46 - but I don't consider it to be a job or a career.

    1. I figure as long as you're doing what you love and can make money while doing it, anything can be a job or career. Besides, Connor does a lot more than make YouTube videos.

  6. Another Youtuber with a book? Seems to be quite popular lately, haha. :D Not that I would mind, although I probably won't read it - I'm not so much into Non-Fiction. Oh well, Connor's still great. And the cover looks absolutely gorgeous! ♥

I hope you enjoy it! :)

  31. That looks awesome and he's a great pitch guy for his book. I've never heard of him before so that's nice to see. There was a time dancing and acting weren't seen as 'real' careers either and yet it is. As long as it doesn't harm and you can pay your bills how is it not a job?

  32. This is a new book to me. I not familiar with Connor. I hope you enjoy and thank you for stopping by. :)
