Feature & Follow Friday | Pitching Favorite Books As Movies

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly book blogger meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read to help bloggers gain new followers on their site.

This week's question is:

How would you pitch to the biz to make your favorite book into a movie?

My answer:

It would be hard to pick just one book! But I really don't think that I would pitch one of my favorite books to a movie company. If I wanted to see the book come to life, I would choose to have it made into a TV show. Sure some things could be changed, but a TV show can go more in depth than a movie can. Plus, quite a few movie adaptations have been big let downs lately. TV seems to do a better job with books.

  1. I feel like I can be let down by either, but that being said, I have no preference for seeing my books turned into movies or TV shows! The only series that I've read and loved that's been made into a TV show was the Southern Vampire Novels. True Blood was soooooooooo different than the books. Though I do blame that in part on HBO because instead of having like 1 or 2 sex scenes in the book, they had sex in every single episode. The entire second season revolved around a sex orgy group! I was like oooohh dear god! This is too much nudity! LOL!

  4. I agree, TV would definitely work well for some books. But for others I think TV can draw it out too much. It's a bit hit and miss for each option, I guess. :-)

  8. I never really think of making books into tv shows when I'm hoping for my favorite book to be on the screen, but you're right. TV shows are a lot easier to make from books than movies. Movies are too short to really fit in everything that needs to be there.

  9. Ah, but I wouldn't wish that on my fave books. After what happened with Vampire Diaries, I'm not big on having them as a TV series. :)
