QUARTER MILE HEARTS (American Muscle #1)
by Jenny Siegel
Published: July 7th, 2015
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Sports
Purchase: Amazon
Following an accident injuring her dad, twenty-four year old Leigh Storm returns home to the town she was once so desperate to escape.

It is only a matter of hours before she runs into Max 'Manwhore' Morgan. Dark eyed and dangerous to her heart, he is the very last person she wants to see. It might have been four years since she saw him last, but there's no denying the chemistry between them is as potent as ever. Max makes it clear he isn't about to let her run again, even if he is the one thing Leigh vowed to herself she would never date: a street racer.

After racing tore apart her own family and left a path of destruction in its wake, Leigh decided long ago that it is not the life she wants for herself. But when a wager gone wrong threatens her dad's livelihood, Leigh must go against everything she believes in.

This time there's more at stake on the quarter mile that just the family business-She's risking her heart as well.

Cover Review:

Quarter Mile Hearts is all kinds of sexy and this cover really shows that. There's explosive sexual tension and really fast cars. I just love everything about this cover. The colors are perfect, the models portraying Max and Leigh look how I pictured them, and the speed lines of the car let you know that car racing is involved in this story. This cover is perfect for this book.

Book Review:

In Quarter Mile Hearts, Leigh returns home after her father has an accident racing cars with his buddies. In her small town, car racing is the only real source of entertainment, so she's been around cars and racing her whole life. She loves car and driving them fast, but racing tore her family apart and she vowed to never race and never date a racer. Her father's latest accident only reinforces her belief that racing only brings trouble. And one big source of trouble finds her in Max Morgan, her long-time love interest and well-known quarter mile car racer.

Leigh and Max, phew! They are one fire during this entire book! Whether it's from their explosive chemistry or their raging animosity toward each other, both really stem from their frustration. They have feelings for each other, but each has something that prevents them from moving forward. But Max has decided that he's done fighting their attraction and instead fights for Leigh. But Leigh doesn't want to date a racer and potentially lose someone else she loves. There is this tug-of-war that heightens all their emotions, good and bad.

Another source of trouble that racing has brought into Leigh's life recently is the bet her father lost in the race that caused his accident. Now her family's garage is in jeopardy and the only thing she can do to save it is race and win. That was an intense time, but also exhilarating.

So the promises that Leigh made to herself never to do - race and date a racer - are completely obliterated by circumstances. She can't fight her attraction and love for Max any longer, and there's no way she's going to lose her family's garage to the likes of the Anderson family.

I completely enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Rating:

I gave Quarter Mile Hearts a 5 STAR rating. This book is all kinds of hot and steamy. The chemistry between Max and Leigh is explosive. I loved their story and how they finally let themselves love each other after so long. I even really enjoyed the racing parts. This was my first time reading a book that had car racing, so it was a new experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next one in the series.
