Shy Ken Kaneki is thrilled to go on a date with the beautiful Rize. But it turns out that she’s only interested in his body—eating it, that is. When a morally questionable rescue transforms him into the first half-human half-Ghoul hybrid, Ken is drawn into the dark and violent world of Ghouls, which exists alongside our own.

TOKYO GHOUL, VOL. 2
by Sui Ishida
Published: May 19th, 2015 (Viz Media)
Purchase: Kindle | Paperback
Unable to discard his humanity but equally unable to suppress his Ghoul hunger, Ken finds salvation in the kindness of friendly Ghouls who teach him how to pass as human and eat flesh humanely. But recent upheavals in Ghoul society attract the police like wolves to prey, and they don’t discriminate between conscientious and ravenous Ghouls.

TOKYO GHOUL, VOL. 3
by Sui Ishida
Published: July 21st, 2015 (Viz Media)
Purchase: Kindle | Paperback
Kaneki is still trying to get used to his new life when Commission of Counter Ghoul agents Mado and Amon start sniffing around for Hinami. Kaneki and Touka are going to have to get them off her tail and fast. No easy task now that Kaneki’s got to bring humans and Ghouls to a rapid truce at the same time.

Sui Ishida was born in Fukuoka, Japan. He is the author of Tokyo Ghoul and several Tokyo Ghoul one-shots, including one that won him second place in the Weekly Young Jump 113th Grand Prix award in 2010. Tokyo Ghoul began serialization in Weekly Young Jump in 2011 and was adapted into an anime series in 2014.

NOTE: I just read volumes 1 and 2, so I'll hopefully have reviews up later today for both. AND I'm hoping to start watching the anime, if I can find a version that either has English subtitles or English dubbed.

  1. I've heard a few people mention Tokyo Ghoul now! I haven't read it, though - but I'm a big manga fan, and the art looks so pretty in this! (I'm really fussy when it comes to the art style in manga, so that does tend to limit my options a little... haha)

Definitely going to need to give these a go!

    Thanks for sharing. :)
